The Journal of Creative Practice Research is a new Open Access journal, hosted by the Institute of Creativity, Communities and Culture at the University of Central Lancashire. Our aim is to provide an interdisciplinary and supportive space, where academics and artists from different backgrounds, institutions and cultures can share their work and discuss what we mean when we talk about creative practice research.
We plan to publish one thematic issue per year, which will include contributions solicited via invitations and open submissions. As part of the editorial process, we will work with authors, especially those who have not submitted to an academic journal before, to develop their manuscripts and to navigate the peer review process. We envisage the journal as a multimedia space and welcome a wide range of submissions, including, but not limited to, visual essays, moving images, audio works and in-conversation pieces, alongside more traditional written essays.
Our first issue will be published in early 2026.
